We work with a number of Global manufacturers, including Philips and Moores Glass Works. In regards to Moores Glass Works in Surrey (moores-glass.co.uk). We specialise in having our clients found for generics like "glass manufacturers" and for their specialist products like " Multi-Pin Bases."
So once we had covered the UK bases for both core short tail and product based long tails we could concentrate on attracting enquiries from abroad.
Together with Moores Glass we identified logic international markets to work towards promoting their products to .
US
China
France
Germany
South Africa
The US and South Africa has the attraction of not being multilingual and so could save costs. The US had the attraction that Google, from our past understanding equates '.com' (US hosted) with "international", so we could use the US site (moores-glass.com) to not only attract traffic but also for backlink to the UK and the other foreign websites.
Benedict? designed a generic template to be used for all of the international websites. We then asked Moores to para-phrase their content on their primary UK site. We then commissioned Conversation Piece to work with us to provide country language specific content.
Could we of used a single domain and created (French, German etc) pages within the core site? In Moores Glass's case we did do this initially, but we have found that for example Google.de (Google Germany) ranks local websites in the local language above a UK site in German, which is not really surprising when you think of it.
